Tremonton resident Curtis Kaneko, age 54, was killed after his car rolled on SR-13 near Plymouth on Tuesday morning. According to Utah Highway Patrol, Kaneko was traveling northbound on SR-13 at approximately 5:45 a.m., near Plymouth, when he tried to avoid hitting a deer in his 1993 Honda Civic. Kaneko hit the deer with the right front corner of his vehicle, which caused him to swerve off the left side of the road and rollover. Kaneko was ejected from the vehicle through the driver’s side window during one of the rolls. The vehicle came to rest partially on top of Kaneko after he was ejected. Other motorists passing by stopped and assisted in getting the vehicle off of Kaneko, and he was taken to Bear River Valley Hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival. According to UHP, Kaneko was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. SR-13 was closed for approximately an hour and half while emergency crews cleared the scene.
