After Joe deployed, I had trouble getting into my own "schedule". I had always relied on him when I needed a brake from our wonderful children. The first few weeks were hard and it seemed like Joe was just at work and would be coming home at 6pm and would be eating dinner with us and joining in the normal family routine.
For the first month, I could call Joe every day and sometimes even twice. He was at Fort Hood for training before their unit would be "boots on ground" in Afghanistan for the next 9 months. He would call or text and chat on Facebook or Skype daily if not more. It really didn't seem like a "true deployment" just an extended business trip.

After about three weeks of him being gone, the children and I hopped a plane to Texas to spend time with him for his four day pass. We took the kids to Sea World and were able to have a "big" family trip before he deployed.
Sea World was the best! If you ever go to Sear World take one of our children because I GUARANTEE you they will be called up on stage to do something or go on some animal adventure (at least that has been our experience the past times we have gone to Sea World, Busch Gardens, or Disney Land... those lucky ducks!). Although I am now against going to Sea World (another post for another day), we had a blast that time!

One of our children got called up on stage at Sea World to help with one of their largest shows. She got to help feed the Otter that came out on stage. We got front row seats and pop corn as part of the package. This was for getting there 20 minutes early...

Also in side of the park, we got hold a baby Great Horned Owl and meet other animals because of the time of day we decided to go. By the way, did I mention that this trip to Sear World was FREE? Yes! Every year military can log onto www.wavesofhonor.com and register once a year for FREE admission for up to four dependents.
