Our Family Update

Joe and I were living life like normal yesterday night. I was at class and he was home with Zoey. I got a call about 6pm or so from Mom saying that it was Grandpa's last night. I decided to clock out early and have Joe and Zoey come and pick me up and we drove down to Ogden to say our good byes. It was extremely emotional for me. I don't think I have ever cried that much in a long time! It was nice to have Toshi and Risa watch Zoey so that I could spend some time holding Grandpa's hand and enjoy my last time with him. Mom and Aunt Sharon kept making him comfortable and the rest of the family just sat in the room and out in the hall way. Joe and I got home about 10:30PM or so and Zoey fell asleep in the car. I woke up this morning and to a text message saying that Grandpa passed away at 3:10AM this morning. I have many wonderful memroies of Grandpa. The top 10 are as follows:

1)Grandpa would always have me get the chicken eggs out of the coop when we came to visit. I think it was because there was a nasty mean roosoter that would chase you if you came in.

2) Grandpa would let me ride his horses to my little hearts content. Of course it took some poking and proding on my behalf.

3) Grandpa had me help him get the cows into the trailer and one time when I was about 7 years old or so one of the cows decided to take advantage of me and ran under neath me. Grandpa was pretty mad about it too!

4) Grandpa would put Erik up on his back and chase me around the house. When they caught up to me then Erik and him would tickle me until I couldn't breath any more and had to run to the bathroom.

5) Grandpa always used to fall asleep while sitting on his stool at the counter while watching TV.
One time it was Christmas and I got a "Talk - Boy" (the recording device that McCully Culkin had in Home Alone I). I tried to sneek up on Grandpa while he was snoring and get it on tape but he suprized me by jumping up and saying, "boo".

6) Grandpa gave us our dog Shadow.

7) Grandpa and Grandma used to come to the Denver stock show every year and also to do the auction for Colorado Heritage Camp.

8) I always looked forward to calling Grandpa and Grandma for fund raisers. They always gave the most or purchased the most. Especially girl scout cookies.

9) Grandpa loved having Zoey and Regan come and visit him at the nursing home.

10) Grandpa loved his grand kids and especially his great - grand kids. I loved the way he treated Zoey. He always smiled and played with her the best he could when I brought her down to vist.
